Details
Kambala is an independent Anglican day and boarding shore above Rose Bay, with a breathtaking view of Sydney Harbour. Founded in 1887, Kambala caters to students from Preparation (children aged four years) to Year 12, with boarders generally entering the school at Year 7.
We are a girls’ school that fosters inclusivity and diversity. We encourage a culture of learning and thinking and provide a host of opportunities within a thriving educational community. We are a whole school that develops the whole girl.
Our Principal Jane Danvers has served the Australian educational community for over 20 years. Committed to continuous learning, Ms Danvers is dedicated to the significant achievements in the advancement of women and girls’ education and the advocacy for gender equality and diversity.
Kambala offers a broad and holistic education, an excellent teacher-to-student ratio and the opportunity for students to truly excel. Kambala’s rich and varied programs, administered in a positive and supportive environment, inspire every student to realise her own purpose with humanity, courage, curiosity and respect. Academically inquisitive and intellectually brave, Kambala aspires to raise leaders of the future.
Though non-selective, Kambala’s history of outstanding academic excellence is highly regarded. Our Year 12 results consistently place us in New South Wales’ top group of schools, a testament to our educational practices and dynamic learning community. To provide students with the widest choice of possibilities, Kambala girls can elect to attain either the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or the NSW High School Certificate (HSC) in Years 11 and 12. Kambala’s history of HSC and IB graduates further demonstrates our commitment to and pursuit of academic excellence, nationally and on a global scale.
Our students enjoy the open space of the oval and lawn areas as well as the beautifully landscaped grounds surrounding the iconic, heritage-listed Tivoli building. Flexible learning spaces are complemented by specialised areas for Visual Arts, Music, Science, Design and Technology, Mathematics and Latin, while boarding facilities provide the opportunity for individual nurturing. The school’s boarding house for Years 7–9, Tivoli, is a communal environment where all rooms are shared. Tivoli provides younger students with a well-resourced study section and spacious recreational living. The boarding house for Years 10–12, Fernbank, allows great privacy and independence where boarders develop the skills that are necessary for life after school.
Student and staff wellbeing is a key priority for Kambala. All members of the school community have the right to enjoy a safe and positive environment that promotes tolerance and respect. We recognise the importance of raising girls who are resilient and have a connection with life’s journey and a global perspective.
