MacGregor State High School

Graduated in '07 and have found life-long friends and have had a great career after studying at UQ and Monash. I've moved back into the area from overseas in recent years. I am still friends with my high school friends today and we have kids that will probably be best friends. What I learnt and the experience I had in school is probably more to do with social skills, managing your time, appearance, and finding a good group of friends that got me through life's challenges. Sure I got good grades but that doesn't guarantee you will succeed in life. Regarding the comments below, I think the kids you see that hang around bus stops and Garden City are mainly the ones that don't have the luxury of parents going to pick them up or those that live within walking distance in the surrounding area. Otherwise you will meet some of the nicest, respectful students. MacGregor did not exclude people from enrolling into the school from other catchments back then, I don't think they do now either... The best memory from school was probably learning to Ski in Grade 11 and I went on to learn snowboarding. I also ran into my old Chemistry teacher at Garden City and she still looks the SAME! Arts, Performing arts, and Sports were all very good at Macgregor and I wish I participated in them more. I know people who graduated from the year before '06, and '08 who also are doing well professionally or running their own businesses. Also, two of my school mates from 2007 also went on to become teachers at Macgregor High.

I always see students at Garden City library being loud and obnoxious, saying slurs and other offensive language. They clearly have 0 care for what the public thinks of them while wearing their uniforms

the teachers in the school try their best but just can't seem to keep students under control, we get lot's of police visits and students don't seem to respect the teachers and then won't attend punishments. however this does lead to some unfair punishments a friend of mine was given a detention for laughing at a joke the teacher who does this does seem quite stressed a lot of the time so maybe there needs to be more behaviour management towards the students

They don't stand for phones at all, the principle is a rude. Schools like this are just evolving backwards kids shouldn't be taunted just for not wearing the right uniform it's not fair if a kid feels more comfortable in the sports uniform or the "other gender" uniform then let them be. Stop giving them detentions and after school detentions. This school is just plain horrible.
