Details

Hubbard’s School is a co-educational, independent private school in Queensland. Hubbard’s offers an alternative academic program catering exclusively to senior school-aged students. We aim to facilitate the development of our students to become independent and confident learners who contribute to society in a positive manner. We champion “U-centric” learning focused on the personal strategic achievements of our students. The Hubbard’s School educational program is recognised as an alternative, differentiated, rigorous academic pathway. This pathway and pedagogical approach are tailored to prepare and support academic students who require a flexible education program to cater to their personal situation. Some of the reasons that students choose this pathway include: medical circumstances; sporting commitments; learning styles; and heavy training schedules in dance, sports, theatre and music. The student-centred approach to education at Hubbard's School is critical to the way it operates as a learning organisation. The smooth transition from the Hubbard's School academic program into university, TAFE, or the workforce is made possible through a focus on establishing quality relationships with students.   Hubbard's School staff and teachers work in partnership with parents and students to assist students to achieve their full potential. A focus on personal strategic planning helps our students gain the confidence and skills they need to be successful.   For more information about what Hubbard’s School has to offer, please visit our website.  In 2021, Hubbard’s School established a Senior Preparatory Program to cater for academically talented students who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills in the year prior to embarking on their continued academic studies through the compressed curriculum Year 12 subjects. This program is a ‘catch-up’ program that covers Year 9, 10 and Year 11 foundation skills in: The program has been developed to assist students in fast-tracking their academic studies in preparing students for our alternate compressed senior school subjects. At Hubbard’s School, students complete each senior school subject in one scholastic year as compressed subject, rather than over two years as in mainstream schools. In 2022, Hubbard’s School revolutionised our delivery format to offer subjects across the compressed General Syllabuses and the Senior External Examinations (SEE) Syllabuses. The compressed General Subject Syllabuses assessments are formative in Units 1 and 2 and summative in Units 3 and 4. The summative assessment tasks consist of 3 Internal Assessments and 1 External Assessment. The External Assessments for the learning areas of humanities subjects contribute to 25% of the overall subject results. In the mathematics and science subjects, External Assessments contribute 50% of the overall subject result and assess Units 3 and 4 of the syllabuses. The Senior External Examinations take place at Hubbard’s School at the end of October each year. These examinations equate to 100% of the mark for each subject. In addition, Hubbard’s School also offers the Diploma of Business through a third-party agreement with Barrington College. This is offered through a mixed method of delivery with Barrington College. A Hubbard’s teacher delivers the training and assessment for each unit, and Barrington College assist with the marking of the final projects. Students at Hubbard’s receive an ATAR if they successfully complete five subjects and attain a Pass grade in English. The five or more subjects used to generate an ATAR may be a combination of results from general subjects, senior external examination subjects and one VET course.

My son has come on leaps and bounds since joining Mother Hubbards. The staff are so friendly and the manager is second to none who really cares about everyone in there. Would highly recommend.
