Details

Queensland Academy for Science Mathematics and Technology (QASMT) is located in Brisbane’s inner west, and is a Queensland state school for highly capable students in Years 7 to 12. QASMT inspires high achieving students through exclusively offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, and Middle Years Programme. In conjunction with the University of Queensland and other leading universities, QASMT offers an enriched program to enhance the development of students with an interest and ability in the STEM fields of science, mathematics and technology. QASMT students achieve outstanding academic results and have a proven record in attaining offers to some of the world’s most prestigious universities. In 2018, 2019 and 2020, QASMT was named Queensland’s Top Performing School, and has the largest cohort graduating with an IB Diploma in Australia. Underpinning our academic success is an outstanding pastoral care system that ensures every student feels a part of the QASMT ‘family’. Student welfare is implemented through a Mentor Program assisting all students to reach their potential. We believe in the importance of guiding students to become responsible and caring individuals, who are sensitive, open-minded and respectful of all cultures. QASMT aims to develop tomorrow’s leaders; individuals who are internationally minded world citizens. We develop students’ abilities to research, investigate and reflect on local and global matters. The relationship between the students and teachers is based on intellectual challenge and interdependent inquiry. Our campus and facilities are world standard. The new state-of-the-art STEM and Languages Precincts opened in 2020, and provide dynamic use and enhancement of our learning environments. A central hub of the Academy is our new Research Centre, providing innovative learning spaces, such as the Robotics and Digital laboratories and 3D printing Makerspace, quiet individual study nooks and collaborative learning areas with up to date e-resources. In addition, we have virtual classrooms, an observatory, and extensive recreational and sporting facilities. Students also enjoy the contemporary university style lecture theatre and large auditorium, plus well-equipped music and art rooms.
