Details

St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace, is a school committed to intentionally educating boys in knowledge, humility and wisdom so that they become gentlemen who will make a difference through service of God, their community and each other. Inspired by the Catholic vision and rich contributions of its Christian Brothers founders 146 years ago, Terrace strives to offer students a holistic education, where faith, learning, stewardship and relationships are equally nurtured in an atmosphere of care. From the classroom to the sporting field and cultural stage, Terrace staff work collaboratively to support the talents and strengths of each Gentleman of Terrace so that he feels supported to assuredly grow into his best self. In 2020, the Senior cohort confidently navigated the first year of the ATAR assessment system, continuing the College’s tradition of outstanding academic achievements. Students were rewarded with results reflecting the academic focus that underpins College life, with 15 Senior students receiving an ATAR of 99.00 or above, and four attaining one of only 30 of the highest possible scores in Queensland – 99.95. The median ATAR for the class was 91.65 (equivalent to an OP5).  The Terrace sporting program also enjoyed great success last year, with its First Cricket and Volleyball teams proudly achieving premiership titles. The College’s cultural program conquered COVID-19 boundaries, replacing external performances with sophisticated online platforms, such as virtual instrumental lessons, performances and clubs for students to remain artistically engaged and challenged. The Terrace experience is one that connects a man for life. Along with its loyal 18 000 strong Old Boy community, the Terrace Family has enjoyed celebrating the many varied contributions of generations of past students. In areas of service, education, research, social justice, the arts and beyond, Terrace is proud to have contributed to a legacy of young men who know and live the wisdom of service for the greater good. As the College moves towards 150 years, Terrace remains committed to ensuring that every Gentleman of Terrace remains dedicated to living out our College motto, Servire Deo Sapere - 'To Serve God is to be Wise'.
