Ashmore State School

Highly recommend Ashmore State School. My child attened from prep through to Year 6. The teachers and office staff were excellent, especially Deputy Principal Veivers, who always went above and beyond. My child loved every day of school at Ashmore, which had a real sense of community. Ashmore SS did a great job preparing for the transition to high school. Thank you so much Ashmore State School.

The experience I had with this school was not a very good one and my kids suffered due to incompetent office staff and a halfwit principal. We live right on the border of catchment and rang the school and were told to come in and bring the kids for an interview. After the interview we were told by office staff we were in catchment and proceeded to enroll the kids on the Thursday. We were told by the deputy principal that we could bring the kids in on the Friday for a few hours to help my 7yr old son and 5yr old daughter settle so we did. We also spent $500 on uniforms. Monday and the kids are super excited for their first day of school so we drop them off only to get a call later on in the day to say we need to pick up our kids as they are not in catchment and can’t attend the school. After some to ing and fro ing and calls to the minister of education the principal had already decided she was not going to budge on the decision for our kids to attend. My wife has had to take time off work and the kids now have to go through the entire process again at another school. All of which could have been avoided if they had competent office staff or a principal who has the kids best interest at heart. Pathetic

Amazing school with great staff and teachers. My son went from prep in a private school to year one at Ashmore and he is now excelling both academically and socially. Would have no hesitation in recommending Ashmore SS

Teachers yelled at my child when they didn't know the answer to a question. They judged them on race and size then laughed about it since I overheard a conversation where they were pretty much making fun of specific children . When a child was eating expired food off the ground, I saw a student walk up to a teacher and tell them about it... they did absolutely nothing to stop them. This school needs to touch up on the teachers they choose to hire immediately. But other than that, the school's academic excellence is great, it would make a fine school if a small amount of the teachers didn't have such a terrible attitude towards children's learning. This review was off of my own experience.
