Details

At Ivanhoe Girls' Grammar School, we help young women find their voice. Our goal is to inspire each student, and help them develop the skills and confidence to achieve their individual goals. Key to achieving this is identifying and celebrating each girl’s unique strengths, supporting her to overcome challenges, fostering her inquisitive spirit and inspiring her to achieve her personal best. There is truly something special about the culture of Ivanhoe Girls’, and it is often spoken about by parents, students and staff. There is a warmth — a friendliness that is hard to describe, experienced by those who walk through the gardens and become a part of the Ivanhoe Girls’ family. With 900-1000 students from ELC to Year 12, the school is small enough to foster each student’s individual strengths, talents and interests, yet large enough to offer a broad range of opportunities. Our strong pastoral care framework ensures all students are accepted and valued as individuals, and given the opportunity to discover what drives them. The School’s focus on service and leadership empowers our students to develop meaningful relationships across the whole school community and to look to these values to drive change in the world through community service initiatives and charitable causes. Girls become compassionate contributors to their community, committed to social justice and philanthropy.       An excellent education is the best gift we can give our young people today. Students are encouraged to develop a broad range of thinking and learning skills and strategies, and each girl is encouraged to achieve academic excellence, as well as develop leadership skills and teamwork in a supportive and stimulating environment. The girls benefit by developing resilience and self-esteem in an environment which encourages respect for the individual, together with tolerance and understanding of others. Ivanhoe Girls’ enjoys an outstanding reputation for a rigorous academic education and innovative teaching techniques, complemented by a rich tradition of co-curricular activities, including music, performance and visual arts. We have found the most effective way for our girls to find success is to let them be their authentic selves. Offering them opportunities to make their own choices gives them the confidence to find their own voice; to set and pursue goals with purpose and vigour. Our girls are evidence of what we do well. Articulate, courageous, critical thinkers who are generous of spirit, have a life-long love of learning, and who have a voice and use it to create change. Because at the end of the day, our girls speak for themselves.

This school is actually really bad and I would NEVER recommend going here. They make you rate everyone in your year level like its some sort of dystopian universe (AND NO I'M NOT KIDDING) I was only 14 years old when I was forced to rate everyone in my year level. Not only that but the teachers don't care about you at all. I was being extremely bullied and they did NOTHING. Moving in year 11 from this school was one of the best decisions have ever made in my entire life. I really hope the new principle will step up and fix this because my mental health has never been worse.

worst school i have ever been to. in year 8 all the girls did this thing called trust mapping and had to rank every girl in the year level as their best friend, at peace with etc.. parents got a phone call saying 3 girls in my friend group had ranked me as trying to make peace with but wouldnt tell me who. thanks iggs for making me play a fun game of who in my group hates me and who doesn't ! took me a couple of months to figure it out when i finally left. :)

Great school, teachers focused on quality education and wellbeing and beautiful grounds and facilities. Some outdated views on modesty and appearance.

Any school that is down to Earth enough to realise the importance of teaching children to understand that success is a function of be willing to risk and experience failure, and the importance of building resilience, gets five stars from me. Risk aversion is not just a barrier to success, but often a cause of unnecessary stress. Well done on your "Failure Week" program.
