Now is the time for women to thrive, take their place as role models and leaders in our society in ways not previously seen. The everyday actions of our young women will lead to a better society and make a positive difference to them, their families and communities in new, exciting and impactful ways. Through embracing global citizenship, enterprising skills, lifelong learning and daily wellbeing, our young women will have tools they need to thrive. Principal, Ms Natalie Charles, believes that the true measurement of a school’s worth lies in the quality of the relationships that underpin the day-to-day experience for its students. It is the role of our school to help our students become empowered, confident, resilient and remarkable women. Find out more about our Early Learning Centre, Junior School and Senior School. Discover the Mentone Girls’ Grammar difference today. The most important thing in leading from the front in education is to have the wellbeing of your students at heart. This wellbeing priority informs every decision we make at Mentone Girls’ Grammar, as we believe education for life not only develops academic skills and attributes, but emotional and physical ones as well. Learning and wellbeing go hand in hand, and students with a strong sense of wellbeing are engaged, productive, focused and happy learners. Our WAVES priorities also challenge us to be enterprising. When teachers rise boldly to take up this challenge, ideas flourish, exciting connections are made, staff and students collaborate, and remarkable things happen for girls. To further the WAVES agenda, our unique Making WAVES Care and Leadership Program has four distinct phases that address the needs of girls at their different developmental stages which we know are vital to their success as learners and their development as competent, confident individuals. These stages influence teaching and learning and are independent of our school structure, enabling girls to have the flexibility to grow through life and school transitions: ELC – Year 4: Between the flags focusing on the early years. At this stage you will observe a learning and teaching approach that supports our youngest learners. Years 5–8: Sea Change supporting students at a time of significant personal change. Years 9–10: Charting your course as global citizens, assisting students to reach out to the community. Years 11–12: Navigating the pre-tertiary years in our Cobbalanna Senior College. Through this program, our students are supported on a journey of personal development to promote their growth as ethical, enterprising, culturally aware and articulate young leaders. Co-curricular activities have always been major ingredients in the making of strong, confident Mentone Girls. Our comprehensive programs promote both physical and mental strength, teamwork, improved energy and concentration levels, and a healthy balanced lifestyle. We are constantly striving to ensure the best possible teaching and learning environment which integrates educational philosophy and practice while also providing our students wellbeing and co-curricular needs. In addition to our spectacular beachfront location which enables us to make extensive use of our ‘Classroom on the Beach’, our School features facilities to enhance our teaching and learning activities at each age and stage of development and create a beautiful, practical and welcoming environment for our students. We offer a variety of activities which allow students to develop their particular talents, share common interests and gain wider experiences. Our extensive co-curricular program aims to provide exciting activities that will stimulate an interest in school life as well as allowing students to challenge themselves by participating in new activities. For those students interested in enterprise activities, we have a Junior Enterprise Program for Years 2–6 and a Senior Enterprise Program for Years 7–12, which operate out of our Enterprise Academy. Students participate in Enterprising projects including financial literacy, starting their own businesses, marketing, sales and more. Our Wellbeing Centre offers a dedicated space for students to practise mindfulness and access our school's health services. It includes a Mind Body Studio, fitness gym, and a home for our School Nurse and School Psychologist. Our new Wellbeing Precinct — a highly anticipated project that follows our strategic focus on sports and wellbeing, includes our Aquatic Centre, which features an eight-lane indoor swimming pool, diving boards and an additional learn-to-swim pool along with 12 outdoor multi-purpose sports courts. The Kerferd Library is a renowned leading school library that includes several zones for different teaching and learning options. The collection includes over 45,000 books to support the curriculum and our strong emphasis on literature and reading, as well as access to an extensive range of online resources. Our students have many opportunities to explore The Arts. The Simpson Visual Arts Centre includes facilities for photography and ceramics while our wide-ranging performing arts spaces include a dedicated Music School with Concert Room, Dance Studio, Drama Theatre, Art Gallery and more along with a media Design Suite, which includes a green screen and advanced technologies for video, TV and film production, web development and industrial design. Extensive sports facilities including heated outdoor pool and indoor pool for very young students, gymnasium, oval, tennis, netball and basketball courts and fitness centre.
