Heritage College Knox is an independent Christian Private school in Ferntree Gully committed to prepare every child to meet the challenges of a changing world with courage and confidence. One of five Christadelphian Heritage Colleges in Australia, Heritage College Knox was founded by the Melbourne Christadelphians in 2010. Other Heritage Colleges in Australia are located in Adelaide (1996), Lake Macquarie NSW (1997), Sydney (1998) and Perth (2006). Our motto is ‘Seeking Wisdom and Knowledge’. We recognise that every child is unique and therefore strive to help each student reach their full potential through the provision of a personalised learning program. Every child is seen, every child is heard and we know every child by name. Our students thrive on a quality education that focuses on strong academic achievement both inside and outside the classroom. In addition to our core subjects of numeracy, literacy, STEM and phys-ed, we have a dynamic Outdoor Education program that encourages students to learn skills, awareness and understand of the natural environment and their place within it. With music, drama and LOTE (language other than English) being AUSLAN, our students education is varied, engaging and motivating. Our Intergenerational Learning program teaches students to respect people from all generations with regular visits to an aged care facility and interaction with the Heritage College Playgroup. With the commencement of secondary school at HCK in 2021, our Year 7 students are introduced to the core disciplines, the areas of knowledge that underpin our world today. As students study these subjects, they will begin to find their future pathways. Our secondary students study the eight core learning areas as found in the Victorian Curriculum, while also having opportunities to deepen their skills, understanding and experience in our diverse co-curricular elective subjects. Years 7 and 8 students play an instrument and will be participating in the Heritage College Band, while we now offer a Special Entry Music Program for Year 9 students in 2022. This is best suited to those students who have a passion for music either as a career or hobby. As they move through secondary school, Heritage College Knox students are offered increasing choice in what they study as we plan ahead for a strong and well prepared entry in VCE and further education.
