Details

Lowther Hall has been educating girls from Kinder to Year 12 for 100 years! We are an inclusive learning community of 800 students, engaged in educating the whole person for the whole of life. Our vision is that every girl will leave Lowther Hall with the knowledge, skills and personal qualities needed to make a positive and rewarding contribution to the world beyond school. Located on one campus in the heart of Essendon, our school offers a world-class cross-age and leadership program that allows almost every girl to lead another who is younger. Our Kinder to Year 1 girls learn in Blinkbonnie House, an environment designed specifically to cater to the Reggio Emilia philosophy of early years education. Raymond House is the area at our school for girls in Years 2 to 6; this ensures specialised delivery of upper primary education. All girls in Years 7 to 12 learn in Senior School, with a dedicated transition or wellbeing program delivered at every year level to complement curriculum pedagogy. In addition to these, Lowther Hall has dedicated facilities for food studies, dance, performing arts, science, music and visual arts. The curriculum at Lowther Hall is tailored at every year level with dedicated science and digital technology learning beginning at Kinder through to Senior School, as well as individualised mathematical and literacy pathways. Classroom learning in humanities, languages, visual arts, performing arts, food studies, theology, religion and philosophy are also compulsory aspects of the curriculum. This is in addition to the learning and development of personal qualities that all girls experience at every year level. Students benefit from broad classroom opportunities at Lowther Hall to prepare for any of the 30 subjects on offer at VCE level. The development of personal qualities in our students at Lowther Hall is nurtured through extensive co-curricular opportunities with over 50 groups and associations on offer, more than 100 positions for leadership, a cross-age program spanning from Kinder to Year 12, and the living out of our motto 'not for ourselves alone' through numerous social justice pursuits. Of course, the true spirit of the Lowther Hall community is found in the personal interactions and vibrant, open atmosphere which come alive each day as the girls enter through our gates. So, if you have not yet visited us in person, we strongly recommend that you do! We look forward to meeting you.
