Lauriston is one of Australia's leading schools and is committed to excellence in girls' education. We are a non-selective, non-denominational school with a proud history of outstanding results and a strong vision and understanding of girls’ education. Our school’s world-class learning programs and experienced teachers are tailored to explore and develop each girl’s strengths and passions in a supportive environment. At Lauriston, we seek to discover the potential in every girl and inspire her to shape her own future. Set in the magnificent Victorian High Country near Mansfield, Howqua is a learning experience unique to Lauriston and a journey of self-discovery. Our students live on the Howqua campus during the year. As well as the comprehensive Year 9 academic curriculum, they take part in an extensive Outdoor Program which includes hiking, mountain biking, rogaining, running, rock climbing, cross country, skiing, snowboarding, horse riding and much more. These daily activities inspire resilience, independence and the courage to rise to every challenge and make the most of every opportunity. A unique Pastoral Program oversees students’ wellbeing. VCE or IB — the choice is yours In Years 11 and 12, Lauriston offers both the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), giving our students the opportunity to continue to explore a wide range of topics and skills or focus more specifically on their passion. Our academic advisors guide each student in their pathway and subject selection to ensure they make the best decision based on their individual strengths and career aspirations. SHINE, our Wellbeing Program, strives to assist students to develop the self-confidence and wellbeing tools required to allow them to achieve their academic potential. Our passionate teachers and support staff provide a nurturing and supportive environment dedicated to the growth of each student in all aspects of her school life. Our extensive co-curricular programs inspire our girls to be curious, courageous and collaborative. We offer local and international trips and exchanges for Years 6–12 and an extensive music program that encourages students to explore and develop their individual musical abilities across a range of genres. Our Visual Arts program incorporates a wide range of disciplines and experienced teachers who nurture passion, creative experimentation and individuality. The program supports an artist-in-residence each year and a triennial Arts Festival. We encourage our students to engage in a range of community service activities from Kindergarten to Year 12 that help them embrace social and cultural differences and inspire them to be changemakers. Our digital fabrication laboratory, set up in partnership with Stanford University Graduate School of Education, is a collaborative setting for open-source technology, digital fabrication and programming. Our teachers use this cross-disciplinary learning space to encourage students to create, design, problem-solve and engage with STEM. We are dedicated to creating a culture that values physical exercise as a foundation for positive wellbeing. Our students have access to a wide range of recreational, team and competitive sporting opportunities to develop skills in collaboration, confidence and resilience. Sport and recreational activities are compulsory for all girls in Years 7, 8 and 10. Lauriston’s extensive facilities, which include a dedicated Science and Resource Centre, integrated Performing Arts and Music Centre, and gymnasium, swimming pool and tennis courts, complement the curriculum and allow students to participate in a diverse range of co-curricular activities. Building is currently underway to create a Unified Junior School, Early Learning Centre, and world-class Sports, Health and Wellbeing Precinct. The Class of 2019 achieved outstanding results. The combined VCE and IB median score achieved was 92.8 and 80% of students achieved an ATAR of 80+. In addition, 62 per cent of Studio Arts, 50 per cent of VCD students and 42% of Further Maths students received a study score of 40+.
