The transformation of heads and hearts lies at the heart of a Sacré Coeur education. Our holistic approach to educating young women unites academic endeavour with deep care for each child. Founded in 1888, we have an unwavering commitment to nurturing future-ready young women.
We are privileged to belong to an international Sacred Heart family of over 150 schools across 41 countries. We learn together through exchanges, and engage in programs that support social justice initiatives locally and globally.
Our students learn from highly qualified and passionate teachers, many of whom are curriculum experts and VCE assessors. Within small classes, our teachers embrace each child as an individual, meeting their learning and wellbeing needs.
Learning in our Junior School, Joigny, focuses on building upon each child’s natural enthusiasm and curiosity within a caring environment. Our new fee schedule makes it more accessible than ever before.
In Senior School, academic endeavour and the holistic, personal development of each student are at the core of our focus. As a result, our young women flourish and achieve exceptional VCE results. In 2022, Sacré Cœur was the highest performing Catholic school in Victoria.
We are committed to a well-rounded education and provide a wide range of co-curricular opportunities for students to explore in creative and performing arts, sport, public speaking, special interest clubs, leadership, competitions, travel and more.
Sacré Cœur is a member of Girls Sport Victoria, an interschool sporting association with 24 member schools, offering 16 sports. Our respected Brynmawr Music School provides lessons and the opportunity to participate in 16 ensembles and choirs from the junior years onwards.
Our students’ wellbeing is at the core of their personal endeavour and achievement. As such, it will always be our first priority. We are committed to supporting the emotional and social development of each student, and the delivery of our Pastoral Care program is central to this.
In our Junior School, the Prep to Year 6 Wellness Program is integral to our focus on developing each child as a whole person. Designed to respond to the social, emotional and wellbeing needs of our students, the program aims to explicitly teach and strengthen skills and capacities so that students can manage life challenges and maintain healthy mental and physical wellbeing. The focus is to build resilience, empathy, mindfulness, gratitude and develop students’ emotional intelligence. The program also builds on interpersonal skills by teaching social thinking, values education, cyber safety and citizenship, as well as human growth and development.
Pastoral Care is fundamental to the Sacré Coeur curriculum and, as such, is included in the Senior School timetable through our Cor Unum Program. We equip our students with knowledge, skills and experiential learning so that they develop the ability to navigate the challenge of school life and learn how to cope with pertinent issues facing adolescents at their particular age of development.
The program, which is based on best practice and accredited wellbeing frameworks, reflects the Sacré Coeur way, “Courage and Kindness”, and is built on the 5 Ways to Wellbeing program developed by the Royal Melbourne Hospital – Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning, Give.
Sacré Cœur offers a rich combination of historical buildings and the latest in educational architecture. Our latest development, completed in 2021, is the St Madeleine Sophie Barat Centre, bringing science, technology and the creative arts together to nurture our future STEAM leaders. Combined with a three-level library and meeting the needs of both junior and senior students, it places modern learning at the heart of our heritage campus.
Located within beautiful gardens, our single campus brings our junior and senior students together as one community.
Located on the Glen Waverley train line, the 5, 6 and 72 tram routes and an easy bus service from Chadstone and Caulfield, Sacré Cœur is easily accessible from the eastern and south-eastern suburbs. There is also a Bayside school bus service from Beaumaris through Brighton.
