Details

From humble beginnings in 1964, our college now enrols over 2044 students and is located on two modern, well-equipped city campuses in Melbourne’s northern suburbs along with Ostia, our country campus in the tranquil valley of Strath Creek. St Monica’s College is a co-educational faith community. The school values the sacredness and wellbeing of all students, staff and parents, and is committed to serving the young people of the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Our secondary school caters to Years 7–12, and serves the priority parish of Reservoir North as well as the parishes of Epping, Thomastown West, Lalor, Mill Park, Reservoir, East Reservoir and East Preston. Applications are received from other parishes too. Student-centred educational programs and extra-curricular offerings foster respect of self, others and the environment. The college provides extensive well-maintained facilities, resources and technologies which reflect an ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation. St Monica’s College takes seriously the reality of contemporary learning in schools being online, whether this is via web-based courses, eBooks, working in the cloud or in e-Libraries. The contemporary classroom is no longer just a physical space because, through digital technologies, the ‘classroom’ is accessible anywhere, anytime. St Monica’s College celebrates its cultural diversity and draws strong identity from its past. We endeavour to empower Monicans to flourish and contribute positively to Australia and the world, now and in the future. It is always our intention to provide a contemporary and relevant Catholic education to our girls and boys. We seek to develop and nurture the formation of the whole person and we do this by remaining faithful to our mission statement. Our teaching and learning approach is contemporary, global in perspective and aims to inspire life-long learning. We seek to stimulate and develop academic learning and students’ personal world view through critical thought while always being respectful of students’ abilities and learning styles. We encourage and assist each Monican to reach their full potential.
