Details

Situated in the inner city of Melbourne, Simonds Catholic College is in a unique position of being the only Catholic school for boys on the doorstep of the CBD, just two blocks from Queen Victoria Market. Due to its central Melbourne location and accessibility by public transport, the College attracts applicants from a wide range of inner city and suburban areas. Following our acquisition of a multi storey building on Chetwynd Street and the completion of refurbishment of existing areas, we are thrilled to announce that Simonds Catholic College has become one school on one campus. From 2023 all students across Year 7-12 are based at our West Melbourne site in the heart of the city. The College motto, ‘Known, Supported, Inspired’ conveys the essence of our mission. The school is a learning community that promotes student wellbeing, safety and positive relationships, so that students can achieve success and reach their full potential. We are committed to small class sizes to ensure your son will receive the attention he deserves. Simonds Catholic College is a unique inner-city school for boys with outstanding teachers. There is a very strong sense of community and partnership amongst students, staff and parents as the College strives to produce the best possible outcomes for all students. We have high expectations for student engagement, attendance, behaviour and learning outcomes. Research shows the importance of wider reading in the development of crucial cognitive skills, expanding vocabulary and developing general knowledge. This is why we introduced the Reading Equals Power (REP) program. Our Year 7-10 students read novels of their choice during scheduled sessions and their efforts are celebrated through the presentation of awards for “most improved”, “most books read” and “most quiz points scored”. Our boys’ reading habits have changed dramatically. Reading really does give students power in the classroom and power in life. Our teachers are experts in knowing how to reach and teach boys and help them succeed beyond anyone's expectations - even their own. We understand tours are an integral part of the decision-making process when determining a Secondary College for your son. We invite you to register for our Talk and Tours led by our Principal. Discover all that Simonds Catholic College has to offer. Bookings are essential.

As a parent who had his Son go to this school, Id honestly rate it 2 stars, the biggest issue with this school is that many of the teachers are egotistical and unprofessional. When he was in year 12 he used to get forced to do SACs before school at 7am whilst being given 4-5 hours homework and having to maintain a job and personal life at the same time, all because the teachers couldnt cooordinate and schedule good times. Another issue with the school is that the teachers expect very highly from the students, which is good in some ways, But i cannot say that they met their basic teaching expectations (I.e lesson planning, giving the students study guides). Overall this school is decent, but I cannot blame students for not wanting to learn or just plain giving up in an environment like this

My child loved this school. Peter the principal and the teachers are fantastic. But the year 7 coordinator bullied my child out of the school. “This school isn’t right for you” “Maybe you should go to your brothers school?!” Endless detentions for minor incidents. Cornered and intimidated him in the classroom. Then lied about his comments.

This school is top class, the principle knows the name of your son , its fairly small but really strong student efficacy. Sport is not great as they don't have a lot of space but the results at the end of year 12 are exceptional across the state. The teachers are very friendly and professional!!

As a parent of a student at the school, I cannot speak highly enough of the teachers, principal, administration, and counsellors. The team effort in ensuring the students excel and care given to them is exceptional.
