The educational activities of the college are designed to provide opportunities for all students to achieve their maximum development intellectually, spiritually, socially and physically. The process of education involves the continued development of a set of values upon which all decisions depend. Christian Education seeks to enhance sensitivity to values that are in harmony with God’s will. The development of character and personality based upon a love for God, unselfish concern for others and personal self-respect, is basic to all curricular objectives. The concept that every child is a candidate for heaven and that education is a preparation not only for life in society today and the future, but also for eternity, is implicit in the total curriculum.
Seventh-day Adventists believe in the reality of God the Creator, and that humanity was created in God’s image. We have fallen from His original perfection through sin. The ultimate aim of Christian Education is the restoration of the image of God in people through the redemptive power of Jesus Christ.
We believe that an understanding of the world and ourselves is enhanced by an acceptance of the Holy Scriptures as a measure of reality and truth. Education is a search for truth and therefore is guided not only by reason, but also by the revealed will of God in the Bible. We are endowed with intelligent powers of choice and are accountable to God in every aspect of life.
The programs of, and teaching in Gilson College support and promote the principles and practice of Australian democracy, including a commitment to:
elected government
the rule of law
equal rights for all before the law
freedom of religion
freedom of speech and association
the values of openness and tolerance.

My son attends Gilson College Children's Centre.
Lovely new facility. Staff are very friendly and experienced educators.
My son really enjoyed the large outdoor area and free play.
Also visiting the school playground, hall and library.
Faith based program. Teaching Christian values and stories.
The kinder program has prepared him for this transition to prep.

i have not had any dealings with SDA schools in 20 years and have also spent the last 16 years running a very small business of my own outside the education sector.
It pains me to say, my review is unfortunately in alignment with many of the negative google reviews already found for this school.
I am sorry for the bad review...I believe that the institution staff members individually are highly motivated and genuine in their love of teaching.
Its not that one expects any business or institution or individual to be perfect or error free. However, it seems to me that perhaps the institution here is more concerned with being precious about individual staff members feelings than addressing genuine concerns that are directed at the institution itself.
I would suggest that its rather difficult to convey frustrations at the institution without talking with a representative from that institution. The common problem is that any complaint that is made is immediately ruled as being rude and inappropriate, blown out of all proportions from that perspective and then discounted.
Of course someone with complaints is going to come across either a little unfriendly, or if the complaint is bad enough, very unfriendly. However, we are not sending our kids to schools to be the schools best friends...this is a paid for service and we expect value for money.
One cannot accept that it is ok to respond with "we have a waiting list of 30-50 students for every grade, why should we care about google reviews!" A disappointing answer for what surely should be a deep interest in addressing a parents concern about the education of their children.
I can accept that my usual loud voice is a problem for others, however, many years exposed to general machinery noise and adverse harmonics from engine vibrations from earthmoving machines has produced a level of industrial deafness in me, add to this, my mother has a genetic ear defect inherited from my late grandfather... i tend to be loud on the phone as a matter of habit and necessity.
I accept that this is always a problem for others. So when i do get even just a little upset, for me raising my voice slightly, seems to others who do not know me well, very loud!
In any case, a teachers personal feelings towards my communication habits as are not a priority for me over the tuition and therefore the wellbeing and future of my children. If that teacher is going to start making very very poor excuses (instead of just owning the problem and fixing it), one surely would start to wonder what is going on behind closed doors.
An illustration the front entry of the school looks fabulous.. However, out the back where passers by cannot see, the school oval is downright awful. It is the worst oval i have ever seen in a school in such a high density area (perhaps i haven't seen enough school ovals in major cities?). The point of this comment, what is hidden behind closed doors matters. Systemic stuff ups (of the type that my family has encountered numerous times with this school) are just like a weed ridden dirt oval out the back.
I am not the greatest communicator in the world, my industry exposure over the years has certainly rubbed off, however, the solution is a simple one...just own the very problem raised, actively try to help the complainant (rather than deflect) and move forward, don't make excuses! People usually complain because they are frustrated and need help. If the institution isnt capable of dealing with that, one has to question whether or not the training for the helper is adequate?

Gilson College is an excellent school, where staff genuinely care about making a difference in the lives of their students. I have enjoyed getting to know both the staff and students of this school.

Gilson College has exceptional teachers that nurture students to be both academically proficient and great citizens of the future. The Year 9 Learning for life program is rigorous in nature. Students explore their strengths through outdoor adventure and service. It is amazing to see the impact this experience has in developing students. The year 11 and 12 outdoor education program is also worthy of mention as it really equips students to love the Australian outdoors and has many graduates entering the outdoor education industry. Great school. Wonderful teachers. Amazing sporting and outdoor programs.

My 2 Kids has been with Gilson College for the past 6 years, they don't tolerate bullying, and most of the negative reviews here are not true.
Why don't you post your real name, and lodge a formal complaint against the school.
