Carey Baptist College, Forrestdale

Established in 1998 by Carey Baptist Church, Carey Baptist College has grown into a leading Christian education provider in the south-east corridor of Perth. Our founding campus, Carey Harrisdale, has grown to educate more than 1,500 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Our Forrestdale Campus opened in 2016 and has partnered with local families in developing a vibrant community with an expanding offering of Primary and Secondary education. The Forrestdale Campus currently educates students in Kindergarten to Year 11 and will be a Kindergarten to Year 12 school in 2024. The campuses are also home to Carey Baptist Church and Jump Carey Early Development. Carey has an open enrolment policy, creating a beautifully diverse community with a range of nationalities and religions, based on our Christian foundations and a value-based philosophy.  Our values of Courage, Respect, Humility, Integrity and Kindness underpin all that we do, shaping our pastoral care, discipline and our focus on lifelong learning. Beginning in kindergarten, our philosophy is underpinned by this values-based culture. In secondary school, positive, healthy relationships assist our students to effectively navigate the challenges of adolescence and help to thrive in the school environment.  Carey will continue to provide a curriculum that can meet the needs of all students. Our teachers use a variety of different teaching methodologies to inspire learning and connection, and our open-door policy encourages parents and students to speak with teachers regarding any issues. We have graduation pathways that are suited to the individual skills and interests of each student and importantly are about establishing secure pathways into university or the vocational and training sector. Carey offers more than 40 WACE courses, catering for a complete range of interests and abilities. We have a tradition of graduating exceptional young men and women of character and capacity. Christian education at Carey is informal; Christian values and faith permeate our teaching methodology and informs conversation in the classroom. The campus deliberately enhances the bushland and outdoor areas on our 20-hectare site to enhance student learning; this is an innovative approach to educating students. The facilities currently include large purpose-built classrooms and state-of-the-art breakout spaces, as well as a community hub that transforms into an auditorium and a café kiosk. Additionally, large ovals and play spaces are available for all students. A custom-designed, specialist STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) building will open in 2022.  We’ve been intentional in building a school community that not only focuses on academic achievement, but social connections, sport and music programs, and strong support networks.  At our Forrestdale Campus, we believe in giving children opportunities to learn in nature — a rich outward experience for inward growth. The campus is in a bush setting, with wetlands and bush areas intentionally retained to provide high quality, on-site outdoor classrooms. Our on-site Chaplain offers renowned courses and there is an emphasis on strong pastoral care with high behaviour standards. Opportunities are available in the arts and sport for students from Pre-Primary onwards. Students in Year 6 to Year 8 participate in camps and sustainability and care for our world is taught through the Vegetable Garden and Horticultural Program.
