Established in 1998 by Carey Baptist Church, Carey Baptist College has grown into a leading Christian education provider in the south-east corridor of Perth. Our founding campus, Carey Harrisdale, has grown to educate more than 1,500 students from kindergarten to Year 12 and has consistently achieved exceptional academic outcomes.
In 2016, we opened a second campus in Forrestdale. Both campuses are well-known for holistic education as well as their passionate local communities. The campuses are also home to Carey Baptist Church, Jump Carey Early Development and Timber Café.
Carey has an open enrolment policy, creating a beautifully diverse community with a range of nationalities and religions, based on our Christian foundations and values-based philosophy.
Our values of Courage, Respect, Humility, Integrity and Kindness underpin all that we do, shaping our pastoral care, discipline and our focus on lifelong learning. More than twenty years of experience in providing quality education has enabled us to refine our educational delivery and maintain a culture of academic rigour and maximised potential.
There is much research about the impact that teachers have on student learning and their influence in shaping young lives. Working at Carey is more than just a career for our staff – it is a vocation that reflects their passion to see students flourish.
Visitors to our college campuses frequently make the comment that there is ‘something special’ about Carey. We encourage you to make a visit, tour the college and experience for yourself that ‘something special’. You too will be warmly welcomed as you tour our campuses, meet our staff and discover what a Carey education would mean for your child.
Deeply embedded in Carey’s DNA is a commitment to see young people develop compassionate hearts, recognising where others are in need and being motivated to alleviate suffering.
It is our hope that when students complete their time at Carey, they will leave us enriched and equipped for the future. This includes having a sense of their intrinsic worth which, when fuelled with passion, enables them to meaningfully engage in a rich and fulfilling future, making a difference in the lives of others.
Relationships are foundational to how we approach Pastoral Care at Carey. Our educators and staff are committed to building positive and meaningful relationships to optimise your child’s learning potential. Beginning in kindergarten, our philosophy is underpinned by this values-based culture. In secondary school, positive, healthy relationships assist our students to effectively navigate the challenges of adolescence and help to thrive in the school environment.
Carey will continue to provide a curriculum that can meet the needs of all students. Our teachers use a variety of different teaching methodologies to inspire learning and connection, and our open-door policy encourages parents and students to speak with teachers regarding any issues. We have graduation pathways that are suited to the individual skills and interests of each student and importantly are about establishing secure pathways into university or the vocational and training sector. Carey offers more than 40 WACE courses, catering for a complete range of interests and abilities. We have a tradition of graduating exceptional young men and women of character and capacity.
Christian education at Carey is informal; Christian values and faith permeate our teaching methodology and informs conversation in the classroom.
Our vibrant campus has grown since opening in 1998 with many building projects expanding on the 12-hectare site. All college classrooms and indoor learning spaces are air-conditioned. Our state-of-the-art Teasdale iCentre is the hub of our Campus. Kindergarten through to Year 12 access this facility and engage with its resources and staff. The iCentre provides a social space to meet, collaborate, research, learn and share. Our college auditorium seats up to 1,000 people and hosts assemblies and special events. We have many other wonderful facilities, which are featured in our Prospectus.
We’ve been intentional in building a school community that not only focuses on academic achievement, but social connections, sport and music programs, and strong support networks.
At our Harrisdale Campus, we have highly respected arts, music, sport and STEM (GATE) programs, with scholarships available for some specialist programs. Our staff actively partner with parents and onsite chaplains and psychologists work with students on their social, emotional and spiritual development. Sustainability and care for our world is taught through our Carey Community Garden and We Love Our Earth Club.
All Year 10 students at Carey Harrisdale are involved in a service learning program, designed to connect our students to their community and their world. To learn more about the many programs and subjects available at our Harrisdale Campus, please visit our website and download our Prospectus and course handbooks.

Due to personal reasons, I left school in July this year. Before I start, can I ask some random people to stop trying to spam me with my new phone number or something cause I got it to have privacy, I appreciate that some of you care and ask me how I'm doing and that's why I got a number to talk to my friends from school, but I also get a lot of spam from numbers I recognise from school...anyway, it's ok. I wrote this review in a formal sense because I want to show I'm grateful. I would never write this way for the sake of it because I'm a bit lazy but today, I'll make an effort.
I can say that it is a very good school. Of course people joke around but overall they are friendly and the staff are nice. I took Maths, Science, Humanities, English, Music, Japanese, Beliefs and Values, and Product Design from memory.
Maths is a great subject and the teachers know a lot about things, but given the size of the class it is difficult to have a class that meets everyone's learning needs.
Science is very basic and easy to understand as teachers make booklets with practice questions and information but this also teaches students to depend on their teachers which is not good. As a student I'm pretty lazy sometimes so I found it helpful.
Humanities is good and the teachers know what they are teaching.
English is the most weird and funny.
Music is my favorite subject given that I have studied music for almost 9 years. I first studied piano for two years, then stringed instruments and vocal music for six years, and basic theory for one year. I studied basic theory in my first year of high school, and it was very interesting in Year 7. There are two types of music courses, Music General and Music Specialist, I believe I would be more suited to Music Specialist because I didn't realize that the course I chose was for people with little or no prior knowledge of music. That's okay because I've learned more about how things in the music world became what they are today.
Japanese is like a review class in some ways, but it's nice to have a class where I can relax and just focus on writing instead of taking endless notes and listening to lectures (not that Japanese class doesn't have that, in all honesty, there are parts I don't like either).
Beliefs and values are all about religion and beliefs, which is fine with me, but I have my own personal beliefs too which don't resonate with the school beliefs and Christianity.
Product design is my second favorite class after math because I studied it with friends and I love design.
Actually, I took the GATE exam in 2019 when I was 10 years old. Although I had been in Carey for 6 years by then, I thought it would be good to try it out. I actually scored well in the literature/essay section, which is why I resulted in the first rank (I think).
My advice to future students who want to take the exam is not to stress about the day, but also to take a break and engage in other activities (mine are ice skating/hockey, calligraphy and music). I mostly study on my own, but occasionally I study with friends, which helps me a lot.
Overall, it's a good school, and I think I'm grateful for the experiences I had there.

Our children have been at the Forrestdale campus since it opened and we love it! Fantastic community, excellent staff and leadership, genuine desire to grow children into successful, well-rounded adults and beautiful use of the bush setting with outdoor learning.

Have had 2 children go through the state system and wasn't impressed. My 3rd child is in Kindy and the difference is amazing. The teachers are fabulous and have a love for their job and the children they teach. The atmosphere of the school is so friendly with both parents and teachers alike. I love the way that they teach the children negotiation skills and unkind behaviour is just not tolerated, and parents input is taken seriously. I could not be happier that my 2 younger children will be attending this school, where I feel they will recieve a fantastic education and skills to be considerate caring people.

Very positive experience for my child. States that she feels cared for by staff. Has developed a strong set of values and beliefs and empathy for others. Came from a very different school environment previously and she states that she feels valued by staff at Carey and has a great group of peers. I would highly recommend this school
