Details

Helena College develops its students to be confident communicators, creative problem solvers and engaged citizens, capable of achieving their goals. Students from Kindy to Year 5 attend our Junior School at the Darlington Campus, while our Glen Forrest Campus is for Middle School (Years 6–9) and Upper School (Years 10–12). Students learn the content of the WA curriculum through the inquiry-led, concept-based approach of the International Baccalaureate (IB) – with the Primary Years Programme in Kindy to Year 5, and Middle Years Programme in Years 6 to 9. Year 10 is a transition year where students are supported to enter either the WA Certificate of Education ATAR system or general courses in Years 11 and 12. Our broad offering of learning programmes and leadership opportunities aims to ensure our students have a range of options upon graduating, with an ability to flourish as lifelong learners and global citizens. Specialist and electives are run through junior and senior school with classes in Library Studies, Drama, Music and Art, Languages, Digital Technology, Health and Physical Education for all students until Year 8. In Year 9 they can choose their pathway with options in PE and Outdoor Education, Performing and Visual Arts, Media and Film, Design Engineering, Digital and Food Technology, as well as being involved in many extra-curricular clubs and community service activities. We also run a unique whole school camps programme where students receive a challenging and rewarding experience every year from Pre-Primary to Year 12. With around 800 students, we are big enough to deliver a wide offering, but still small enough for every child to be seen and heard with individualised attention and academic support or extension where needed. Helena College has adopted the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. A Child Safe organisation is one that creates a culture, adopts strategies and takes action to promote child wellbeing and prevent harm to children and young people. We have a Child Safe Policy and Code of Conduct, with a commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of all students from abuse and grooming physically and online.
